In 1576 the Prince Bishop Julius Echter founded the charitable and
non-profit-making Juliusspital foundation.



For more than 435 years the proceeds of the second largest wine-estate in Germany have financed the social commitment of the foundation. Bearing this heritage in mind, we always strive to achieve  superior quality. Sustainably and innovatively.

Terroir: Muschelkalk (shelly limestone), Keuper, red sandstone
Top sites: Würzburger Stein, Iphöfer Julius-Echter-Berg,  Volkacher 
Karthäuser, Randersackerer Pfülben, Rödelseer Küchenmeister and Escherndorfer Lump.                
Wine styles: 43 % Silvaner, 20 % Riesling, 17 % Müller-Thurgau,
4 % Spätburger (Pinot noir), 16 % other varieties among them Pinot
blanc and gris and specialties like Muskateller and Traminer)
